A night at NYC’s New Colossus Festival

Every year, more than 100 bands and artists from around the world gather at NYC’s annual New Colossus Festival. For five days, these musicians-on-the-come-up take over eight independent venues on the Lower East Side of Manhattan as badge and ticket holders alike swarm in to hear emerging music from the US and abroad.

The festival gives local scene lovers a global view of live artists working hard on their way to stardom.

On Friday, March 8, Through the Monitor caught four sets at The Knitting Factory on Avenue A. The New Colossus night featured bands from indie rock/pop to punk; from the US to Lisbon and Valencia.

The venue came to life with a diverse line-up and vibrant, animated artists, including Partygirl (Brooklyn, US), Hause Plants (Lisbon, Portugal), Los Premios (Valencia, Spain), and Mary Shelley (Brooklyn, US). See for yourself.
